Best Blender for Frozen Fruit
Ah, summer. The season filled with sunshine, the smell of fresh flowers, adventure, and, well, the unbearable heat. And what better way to cope with summer heat than to enjoy a frozen fruit smoothie, right?
But first, you’ll need the right appliance for the job – not every blender is up to the challenge of delivering a lump-free frozen fruit smoothie. That’s why I’ve made finding the best blender for frozen fruit my mission.
Fresh vs. Frozen Fruit: What’s Better for You?
We’ve all been taught that we should stay away from frozen fruit as much as possible because fresh fruit is the one that’s packed with all the nutrients. So, naturally, we grew up believing “fresh” equals “healthy,” and “frozen” means… well, “NOT fresh.”
But did you know that’s not necessarily the case when it comes to fruit?
Let’s take a look at some of the recent discoveries regarding nutrient preservation in frozen fruit; this time last year, I read something about it in the New York Times.
And in general, the differences in nutrient levels between fresh and frozen are so minor that they would be unlikely to have an impact on overall health, and dietitians generally encourage people to eat as many fruits and vegetables as they can, in whatever form they enjoy.
As it turns out, when it comes to nutritional value, there’s not much of a difference between the two types of fruit. On top of that, every time you opted for fresh fruit, thinking you made a better choice but ended up storing it in the fridge for more than a day or two, it resulted in the same (if not higher) decline in nutrients.
That’s especially true for vitamin C, which becomes highly sensitive once the fruit is harvested and the storage period begins. What this means is that freezing the fruit, instead of storing it on a supermarket shelf, is what stops its nutritional value from further deterioration.
Besides vitamins, what’s the other important reason we consume fruit as well as vegetables?
That’s right: fibers.
The thing about fibers is that they are practically indestructible – they don’t care if they’re frozen or not.
I just thought you should know that the next time someone tries to make you feel guilty for making a smoothie with frozen instead of fresh fruit.
Features: How To Choose The Right Blender For The Job
Anyone with the same level of kitchen experience as me is well aware of the importance of having the right appliances for the job. Back when I was a child (since I’m 50, it’s safe to say it was a long, long time ago), we didn’t have any of that; my mother used to do everything by hand.
And while I admire her for that, at the same time, I want to use all the benefits of the age we live in.

When it comes to blenders, with so many options available on the market, finding what you want has never been easier – or harder, for that matter.
How come?
Well, if you’re not sure about what it is you’re looking for, you’ll quickly get distracted (and overwhelmed) by all the choices. That’s why it’s important to put together a list of requirements; here’s what I looked for:
Powerful Motor
When it comes to power, I’ll tell you the same thing my husband told me: Go as close to 1000 watts as possible. Since its primary duty will be liquefying frozen fruit, you want a unit with a bit more muscle to it.
Glass or Plastic
While the jar material won’t affect the blender’s performance in general, it will have an impact on other aspects of your smoothie preparation. Plastic is lightweight, and there’s no danger of it shattering to pieces in case you accidentally drop it on the kitchen floor. But here’s the thing about plastic pitchers: blending frozen fruit will scratch them, and once it does, you can clean all you want – the stains are never getting out. That is a matter of personal preference, though.
Easy to Clean
You all know that you should clean a blender after every use. So, the whole concept of having a fast and efficient blender goes out the window if you have to spend a substantial amount of time cleaning all the little bits and pieces that come with it. Dishwasher-safe parts are always a huge plus.
Sturdy Base
One of the first blenders I ever had was a nightmare when it comes to stability; every time I’d turn it on, I was preparing for it to tip over. I’m not even joking; that’s how shaky that thing was. When I gained more experience, I learned that a sturdy base is as important as a powerful motor – don’t overlook this feature.
Available Storage Space
This comes down to the blender’s footprint and the countertop space you have available. As you can imagine, my kitchen is already full of different appliances – a lot of them used daily – which means I had to carefully consider if I have the space needed to keep my new blender at hand. Start by being honest with yourself – are you going to use it daily or not?

Once you consider all these factors, you should be able to narrow your choice a bit, maybe even make a list of ten (or so) blenders you like. The next step consists of consulting your budget; which one of those models fits not only your requirements but your budget limit, as well?
Most Recommended Blenders For Frozen Fruit: Detailed Reviews 2022
Ninja Master Prep Chopper, Blender, Food Processor
I was looking for the best way to describe the Ninja Master Pro blender without sounding too salesy, but it was harder than I imagined it would be.
Why?
Well, this is one of those appliances that found the way to combine efficiency with affordability; as a result, you get a multifunctional, stable blender that’s powerful enough to handle frozen fruit, as well as ice.
One of the main advantages this model has to offer are the two containers with different capacities; I found them to be super helpful when it comes to storing freshly made smoothies.
But please, don’t make the same mistake as I did – don’t forget that, once you leave it in the fridge for a couple of hours, a frozen fruit smoothie won’t have the same consistency as it did the moment you made it.
I know, silly me; I managed to save the situation, though, by chopping some ice (using the same blender!) and adding it to the previously made smoothie.
The only real issue I had with this unit is the cleaning process. And it’s not even about the cleaning itself; it’s about the crazy sharp blades that you need to clean manually.
What I Liked
- Multifunctionality – it minces, chops, dices, purees, and blends.
- The blender comes with two jars (48 and 16-ounce capacity)
- It has a stable, non-slip base.
- It won’t take up a lot of counter space, and it’s lightweight.
- It’s powerful enough to chop ice and blend frozen fruit.
What I Didn’t Like
- It’s not easy to clean.
Oster BLSTPB-WBL My Blend Blender with Travel Sport Bottle
While it’s not my personal favorite, there’s no doubt someone would love a compact, affordable unit like this one.
I feel like this statement deserves an explanation; what I meant by this is that it’s more suitable for a single person than a family of four. Even though I’m the real health enthusiast in our household, I try to include my family in it, as well – and I could never achieve that with a blender this small.
But that doesn’t mean that a single person wouldn’t love it – it’s an excellent addition to a one-person household and a way for you to quickly add a substantial amount of nutrients to your diet without too much work. Since the 20-ounce sports bottle also acts as a blender’s container, any new mess and spilling will easily be avoided; once you finish preparing your beverage, you’re practically good to go.
On top of that, due to its compact design, it won’t take up a lot of space, which means you could bring it with you whenever you’re planning a trip, and you don’t want to pause your blending rituals for a couple of days.
What I Liked
- It does a great job at crushing ice and frozen fruit.
- It’s extremely affordable.
- It comes with a 20-ounce sports bottle (BPA-free)
- It comes with some delicious smoothie recipes.
- Small footprint, ideal for storing on the countertop
- One-Touch blending
What I Didn’t Like
- It’s a bit noisy for such a small blender.
Hamilton Beach Wave Crusher Multi-Function Blender
If you ask my husband, this is probably the best blender on the market. Ever.
I’ll give you one chance to guess why; yes, it’s the crazy powerful 700-watt motor. I mentioned earlier what he told me about choosing the right blender for frozen fruit – the closer it gets to 1000 watts, the better.
Well, let me tell you how I feel about this blender: it’s good that my husband liked it that much since he will be the one removing the lid every time I use it. Once it’s sealed, that thing is unbelievably hard to open, so I’m going to need some help with it; but that’s what husbands are for, right?
I don’t think I didn’t like it, though. In fact, it’s one of my favorites – a high-quality, sturdy, affordable appliance that shouldn’t be overlooked when it comes down to making the final choice.
Whenever I get to choose between plastic and glass in my kitchen units, I mostly go for glass – you all know that. Well, this blender was no different; my interest only grew once I learned about that feature.
What I Liked
- With a 700-watt motor, it’s crazy powerful.
- Multifunctional with 14 different blending functions
- Wave-Action System forces the ingredients into the blades.
- Dishwasher-safe glass jar with a 40-ounce capacity
- It has a solid feel to it.
What I Didn’t Like
- The lid is difficult to remove once it’s sealed
Gourmia GPB250 Personal Home Blender
Those of you that already need to move the appliances around in order of importance will benefit hugely from buying a unit as small as this one. When it comes to compactness, this one takes the cake – you won’t even notice it’s there.
Until someone turns it on, that is.
Who knew that a blender that small could ever produce a noise that big.
I know, I know, it’s a blender, it’s supposed to be noisy, but I feel like you could wake up the entire house with it. Okay, I might have exaggerated a bit here, but you get the point.
On the plus side, if you’re big on living a healthy lifestyle and you live on your own, this is a blender that will be more than enough for you. It will blend frozen fruit like nobody’s business – fast and without any new mess.
Since there’s only one container – a 20-ounce bottle – meant for blending, as well as drinking, this unit allows you just to blend and go.
What I Liked
- Every removable part is dishwasher safe
- It’s capable of handling temperatures of up to 100 degrees
- Extremely affordable
- The package includes a free Recipe e-Book
- It’s very compact and lightweight, which makes it portable
- Suction cups on the bottom of the base
What I Didn’t Like
- It makes a lot of noise
- You’ll have a hard time cleaning it without a dishwasher
